Light Sources-Photometric Testing

Photometric measurements investigate the characteristics (e.g. performance and ergonomic aspects) of light sources and lighting installations. These characteristics are very important for example for engineers and architects who are carrying out illumination design for products or spaces.

We help you:

  • Find the valid requirements for your product in the relevant target country
  • With the interpretation of the requirements in praxis

We offer you these services at the product development stage. Decisions made in the very beginning can have great influence on the realisation of the schedule and on the costs of the product development project.

Variables measured by SGS Fimko

  • luminous intensity distribution
  • luminance distribution of lamps, luminaires, displays, background-lit symbols (cd/m2)
  • luminous flux (lm = lumen)
  • utilization factor (h)
  • service illuminance (lx = lux)
  • optical power (W = Watt)
  • colour rendering power index (Ra-index)
  • colour temperature (K= Kelvin)
  • chromaticity coordinates (x and y)
  • spectrum distribution wave of visual light

SGS Fimko carries out measurements of these variables on luminaires for normal use, safety luminaires, incandescent, fluorescent and discharge lamps, control gear for lighting fittings (i.e. electronic terminals) and flat screens. Furthermore we carry out measurements with regard to energy consumption of photometric products.
