30/10/07  Summary of EuP and EcoDesign Conferences in Asia
The SGS EuP symposium was a great success. A whole conference tour through Taipei, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai was arranged. The speakers were A.K. Jönbrink (IVF Institute Sweden), Mr K. Schischke (Fraunhofer Institute Germany) and SGS EuP expert Mr P. Hagemann.
26/09/07 Consumer Testing EuP and EcoDesign Conferences in Asia
SGS will hold first international seminar about how to deal with EU EuP Directive in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan during October 2007. The contractors for preparatory studies 3-7 are the key speakers. The EU framework directive promoting eco-design for energy-using products (EuP) became law on 11 August 2007, several Member States and other countries are going to enforce it soon. SGS has invited 2 European researchers Mrs. Anna Karin Jönbrink from IVF and Mr. Karsten Schischke from IZM., they are involved in the preparatory studies 3-7 of the directives and they will present up-todate product specific information with respect to the preparation studies

The product categories currently covered in this directive range from boilers, washing machines and fridges to computers, monitors, and television sets. Besides the 14 product groups, five others will follow and a study is running to identify at least 20 more sectors.
